Dean's Message

Welcome to the Yale School of Engineering & Applied Science. In this era of rapid change, we continue to forge ahead; indeed, we’re doubling down on our commitment to transformative research and innovation, aligning our educational practices with that commitment.
In that spirit, Yale Engineering has implemented a range of new initiatives. We’ve introduced new master’s programs, ensuring that students in our core disciplines have opportunities to leverage our interconnectedness to Yale’s excellent professional schools. These include, in partnership with Yale School of Management, a new business technology degree; with Yale School of the Environment, an environmental engineering degree; and with Yale School of Medicine, a new MS in Personalized Medicine & Applied Engineering.
Looking beyond the university walls, we’re seeking deeper engagement with industry, with initiatives like our invited speaker series, which brings industry leaders to campus and allows students to engage with real-world problems. Through mentorship and incubator programs like our Innovation Fellows partnership with Yale Ventures, we’re finding new ways to support young talent on the path from groundbreaking research to scalable solution to commercial viability.
It's often said that the only constant is change; and throughout history, there have always been those who see in new problems the opportunity to seek new solutions. We believe it’s not enough to know that a process yields certain results, but that real discovery happens when solutions are implemented in context; that greatness comes when we combine rigor, practice, collaboration, and play.
As we push the boundaries of what’s possible, we remain versatile and resilient, dedicated to fostering a culture of collaboration and creativity, and united in our shared quest for innovation and excellence.
