The Peer Advisor Program was started in 2022 by DSAC to provide more industry-focused and peer advising to undergraduate students. The Peer Advisors are a resource for deciding classes, study strategies, postgraduate opportunities, and more! Find information about each of our Peer Advisors below.

Anika Karpurapu
Anika Karpurapu is a senior in Pierson from Virginia, majoring in Computer Science & Economics. She is a ULA in both the CS and S&DS departments, assisting courses such as CPSC 202, CPSC 474, S&DS 265, and S&DS 365. At Yale, Anika has been involved in the Yale Entrepreneurial Society, YHack, and y/cs. She is passionate about machine learning and has gained experience through internships at Big Tech companies and research opportunities in the field. Anika is excited to help students navigate the CS opportunities at Yale and support them through the recruiting process beyond academics. Outside of CS, she enjoys running, discovering new music, and exploring with friends.

Joey Tan
Joey Tan is a senior in Pierson majoring in computer science. She is also pre-med. Joey has conducted CSresearch at Yale and abroad at the Hong Kong University of Science and Tech, and she has worked on student tech startups (in healthcare tech and in full stack development). She volunteered with Code Haven and was a ULA for CS 323 for three semesters, and is now co-president of WG/CS. She is happy to talk about classes, recruiting, multidisciplinary pursuits, and more! Outside of academics, Joey is co-chair of the Yale Guild of Carillonneurs and enjoys nonfiction writing.

Elizabeth Schaefer
Elizabeth Schaefer is a senior in Morse from Houston, double-majoring in Computer Science and Humanities. Elizabeth was a Head ULA for CS50 and is a research assistant in the YaleNLP lab. Over the past summers, she has participated in both an REU and a software engineering internship, and is happy to talk about research at Yale, big tech recruiting, double majoring, applying to grad school, or any classes! Outside of the CSdepartment, she was Morse President, is on the board of WG/CS, and works as a recruitment coordinator in the admissions office.

Phuc Duong
Phuc Duong is a senior (final term) in Silliman majoring in Computer Science on the BS/MS track. He is currently a ULA for CPSC 4270 and was previously a ULA for CPSC 2230 (Spring '23 - Spring '25). Phuc has also conducted research at the Yale School of Medicine and was previously involved in Yale Undergraduate Science Olympiad. Through various internships, he has worked in different domains ranging from computer vision in AR/VR to AI infra to machine learning and is happy to discuss his experience in any of these fields. He is excited to help students choose CS classes that fit their interests and goals, navigate the CS recruiting process, or discuss anything up-and-coming in the tech space! Outside of academics, Phuc loves trying out new restaurants and going on road trips with friends!
